Glen Chadwick

Glen Chadwick earned his reputation as a climber by soaring up the slopes of mountains in North America, Canada, Hungary, Korea, Belgium, Switzerland, Taiwan, China and Australia. But it’s his tough-as-nails approach to the sport that has earned him the respect of teammates and fellow competitors.

The 2007 New Zealand national time trial champion has battled through food poisoning, broken bones and even frostbite to become one of the most dependable cyclists in the pro peloton.

His career began on an amateur team in Belgium in 2001, providing him with his first taste of European racing. After two seasons, he moved to the Giant Asia Racing Team where he won the Tour of Beijing and Tour de Korea. After a year back in Europe, he began racing with Team Type 1 Team Director Ed Beamon’s Navigators Insurance squad. Despite the change in scenery, his winning ways continued, with a King of the Mountains title at the 2006 International Tour de ‘Toona and second place overall at the inaugural Tour of Utah.

A torn calf muscle injury in the fall of 2006 threatened to disrupt his 2007 season. But come January, Chadwick was as strong as ever, earning a national title in the time trial. He would go on win three more times, including the third stage of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic and a pair of stages at the Tour de Beauce in Canada– including the challenging finish to the observatory at Mont-Mégantic.

Although he holds dual citizenship (his father is from New Zealand; his mother from Australia), Chadwick considers himself a Kiwi. But like many Australian cyclists, he began his career as a track racer.
