Moisés Aldape

Moisés Aldape is no stranger to international racing competition, but he will be a newcomer when it comes to domestic racing in the United States.

Aldape has competed in one of cycling’s three “Grand Tours,” having started the 2006 Giro d’Italia and completing the first 13 stages. He is the younger brother of former Mexican national road race champion Antonio Aldape, who finished second to Moises in the overall standings of the Vuelta a Guanajuato in 2007. What should have been a promising season in 2007 was marred by a horrific crash at Tirreno-Adriatico that kept him off the bike for two months.

In addition to his win last year at the Vuelta a Guanajuato, Aldape turned heads in the 2006 World Road Race Championships in Austria when he figured in a three-man breakaway that threatened to blow the race apart in the final two laps. Their escape was foiled, though, and Aldape would go on to finish 30th, two seconds behind the winner, Paolo Bettini.)

Like Team Type 1 teammate Benjamin Brooks, he spent part of his offseason getting married and enjoying his honeymoon.
