About THE TEAM

The team is comprised of eight riders. Each rider has juvenile, Type 1 diabetes. Currently it is estimated by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)that 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population have diabetes.

This team is racing in the ULTRA MARATHON 2006 Race Across AMerica with a goal to raise money to fund research for a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Money raised through donations will go to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Team Type 1 riders have had a collective total of 36 years of managing Type 1 diabetes. The riders have taken almost a million insulin shots. Insulin must be injected to live. They have experienced as many finger pricks. Their collective hope is for a cure. To read about each rider click on their names on your left.
