Having diabetes has caused me to:Two things… First, I like being in tune with my body. It often seems that I’m healthier than most of my friends, probably because I’m constantly monitoring food, exercise, and blood sugar (of course). Second, I really like working as a counselor at summer diabetes camp. I’ve met some of my best friends through camp.
Most memorable event per or post diagnosis, sporting or personal: Setting a personal record and placing 12th at the Sentinel Triathlon in Santa Cruz, CA.
What do you like best about the FreeStyle Flash:The small sample size is great. I like the light when I test at night.
Words of wisdom, some personal advice…To be successful (diabetes, sports, work, school, life), for me it’s important to set realistic goals, have a good support system, and maintain a good life balance. Sometimes things may not turn out as you would like (diabetes especially), but the key is to learn from those setbacks and move on.
