Joey Rosskopf joins the men's elite team after a strong 2011 season on the Team Type 1 development squad, where he also rode in Belgium with the US National Team. A growing talent, he joined in August as a stagiaire, and rode to a strong prologue time trial podium at the Tour of China in September. His talents are developing, and his previous success bodes well for a professional career at races where he can display his strengths.
Joey is a Team Type 1-Sanofi success story. He came up from the in-house development squad and hails from the same great southeastern American racing circuit that sparked the team to life. He crossed into the pro peloton in August as a stagiaire and quickly satisfied any doubts with a blazing Tour of China. Then he got on the road and put in the longhaul flight miles to all corners of the globe with the Team Type 1 message, touching down on Hainan island and the rainy hills of Rwanda before the season ended. Now he's prepped for a rough and tumble first year in the wholly European peloton, and based on his past, there's no doubt he will prevail and come out on top once again.
