Jay has been dealing with Type 2 diabetes for seven years now, and has seen the ups and downs of the disease on just about every level. Ask him how he feels about joining Team Type 2 and he’ll tell you that he couldn’t be more proud to be actively participating in a group that betters his life as well as the lives of others living with his condition.
Once Jay was diagnosed, he realized that maintaining his health was going to take a conscious effort and that the days of letting things “run their course” were over. In an effort to do so, he started cycling and has never looked back. After a bit of research, he uncovered Team Type 2 and thought it a perfect fit.
“I found out that the team was made up of regular guys – guys with jobs and families who are trying to stay healthy,” he says. “Just like me.”
Jay has many goals for the near future, some of which include riding the 2011 Paris-Brest-Paris and the Furnace Creek 508. Most importantly, he is determined to keep himself strong and healthy enough to participate in those events by maintaining his condition through exercise and positivity.
In Jay’s off time, you can find him with his family, hiking with his kids.
