In 2003 Phil was 470 lbs., glucose level 600, A1C was 16, blood pressure was 230/150, ruptured disc in his back, and his doctor looked at his watch and literally said, "Phil you should be dropping dead any minute now"!


Phil needed to make a fundamental choice, Life or Death? Phil's choice was life and his "Life Saving Story" in battling the insidious disease of diabetes is truly remarkable. "I was a mess physically, emotionally, nutritionally, and spiritually."


Phil's core tenet by which he lives is "DREAM IT, PLAN IT, DO IT"! Phil says, "You have to have a Dream with a Vision for what you want your future to be. After you have your Vision you develop a Plan to realize that Vision and then TAKE ACTION!"


"I am honored to be a part of Team Type 2" Phil is also on the American Diabetes Association Leadership Board in St. Louis, Tour de Cure Committee, Gold's Gym Golden Flyers Team Captain of the largest Gold's Gym cycling team in the USA, ADA President's/Chair's Community Service Award Recipient, Gold's Gym Cycling Instructor were he has received several awards for community service and Best New Cycling Instructor Award! "I'm deeply honored and humbled to receive any recognition but really it all goes to God because without him I wouldn't be here". "I'm simply trying to pay back to all the people that have helped me on my journey and pay forward to the best of my ability."


Phil has been married to Susan since 1983 and they have three children along with two dogs Max and Angel. Susan has MS which is another thing this remarkable couple battles together.
